            Johnny Cargill

            1st Vice President

            (email)

Johnny Cargill, upon graduation from West Texas A&M in 1988 with a degree in Marketing, spent his first professional years in the marketing and advertising arena, focusing primarily on agriculture, healthcare and politics.

He has aided his community in various capacities such as being a Big Brother and serving as the President of the Board for the Rape Crisis/Domestic Violence Center in Amarillo.  He was also a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers and Texas Cattle Feeders Association.  Further, he and his wife chartered, organized board leadership and served as volunteer directors for Camp Cactus – The Jeannine Sutherland Camp for Children Affected by HIV.  This was the first camp of its type in Texas and is still serving children who are affected with this disease today.  In 1996 Johnny was awarded the Golden Rule Award for Community Service in Texas for this endeavor.

In 1996 his professional and volunteer work in the political arena brought Johnny to Fort Worth to join Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association as the Director of Marketing and Member Services.   Here he cut his teeth on lobbying issues associated with agriculture, environmental concerns, tort reform and taxation.

Johnny is now the principal of The J Group; a lobbying and consulting firm in Austin, Texas.  He is a committeeman at the Star of Texas Livestock Fair and Rodeo and a Co-Chair for the Legends of Texas Music Festival.  He currently serves as the First Vice President on the board of the Dripping Springs Lions Club and chaired the Dripping Screams Haunted House, which is the club’s major fundraiser.  He enjoys fly-fishing and serves on the board of the Guadalupe River Trout Unlimited Chapter.  He and his wife Karol have two children, Kloey who is thirteen and John Ben who is ten.  They reside in Dripping Springs, Texas.
